KESTON QUIETLY LAUNCHES AIRGEN
Keston has entered the air source heat pump market with the introduction of Airgen; it’s
extremely quiet, highly efficient range of air source heat pumps, designed specifically for UK applications.
The British Isles is temperate and often humid so flow temperatures need to be high to satisfy
radiator circuits and hot water requirements. The Airgen has been designed with these conditions in mind, bringing
domestic hot water up to 65°C, with no need for the support of an immersion heater or direct resistance heater.
At the same time Airgen provides space heating for radiators and under floor heating systems at variable temperatures
from 35°C to 55°C.
The Airgen comes in three models, which include a 4.5 kW system designed for small flats, 9kW and 12kW
for larger properties, giving a complete spectrum of choice for the domestic market. The 9kW and 12kW versions can be
banked together, with bespoke designs available for light commercial applications. To optimise efficiency, all units
have dual temperature operation. Larger units incorporate twin scroll compressors to further maximise efficiency.
Despite the fact that the Airgen operates from as low as -15°C, with functionality including a
heated drip tray and four minute frost cycle enhancing its capabilities, as with all air source heat pumps,
efficiency is compromised when the temperature drops. At temperatures below freezing a high-efficiency condensing boiler
is a cheaper option so Airgen is available as part of a bivalent heating pack, including the 97% efficient Qudos 28S
which is purpose built to interlock with a renewable energy source, such as an air source heat pump, or solar thermal system.
The Airgen then provides heating for 85% of the time, with the boiler making up the balance on colder days.
All Airgen units use non-CFC gas, R134a, which not only ensures that the heat pump is kind to the planet, but allows
it to deliver high water temperatures. To provide even more energy saving benefits the Airgen can be combined with weather compensation.
Keston has always been at the forefront of energy efficiency, launching its award winning condensing boilers long
before the competition – Airgen continues its commitment to efficiency and adds to Keston’s range of renewable and sustainable
technologies, including solar thermal kits and weather compensation. Future ready boilers and bespoke multi-boiler rigs can then combine
these systems to provide the most energy efficient solution.
