KESTON PASSES TOUGH EASTBOURNE COLLEGE TEST
Keston Boilers has supplied two SEDBUK A rated high efficiency C55 boilers on a bespoke floor-standing rig for the new £3.4 million Nugent House annexe at Eastbourne College in East Sussex.
The boilers, which offer an output of 14 to 55kW, comprise a corrosion-resistant stainless steel heat exchanger, coupled with a low emission burner, to deliver ultra high efficiency condensing mode operation within a compact wall-hung cabinet.
Since they are completely room sealed, the boilers can be sited practically anywhere without the need for an expensive dedicated boiler room with combustion air ventilation. This was an important consideration for Eastbourne College, where space was limited.
C55 condensing boilers offer a range of major benefits including simple user controls, ultra compact size (720mm high x 520mm wide x 320mm deep), up to 98 per cent efficiency enabling a saving of 30 per cent or more on fuel bills, virtually zero NOx emissions, and simple and quick installation with access to all components from the front.
They also feature automatic output modulation, integral shunt pumps that are automatically speed controlled, and integral weather compensation and frost protection.
In addition, the purpose designed boiler plant rigs dramatically reduce site time, and the small diameter flue system with lengths up to 45m, vertical or horizontal, can save thousands of pounds in installation costs.
The boilers for the Nugent House annexe were specified by Eastbourne College’s project manager, Mike Brett, and installed by Crowborough-based R A Green Mechanical Services.
Mr Brett said he chose Keston because his department was thoroughly familiar with the products, adding: “It gives us the output we require for the limited space we have available and we understand its servicing. We have also found the people at Keston to be obliging in their attitude to us.”
The five-storey Nugent House annexe, designed by architect and “Old Eastbournian” Neil McWalter of the Hove-based Miller Bourne Partnership, will accommodate 42 girls, with the refurbished main house accepting another 20.
New boarding girls join Nugent House when they enter the College for the sixth form. Facilities include a self-contained flat and surgery for the matron, a common room and a dance studio, complete with changing facilities, for use by all members of the College.
