An Introduction to Keston Modular Boilers

The modular design and flueing capabilities of Keston condensing boilers provide the ideal solution for commercial heating and can offer practically any heating output required.

Tremendous savings in fuel can be made, as well as installation costs, because each boiler has an ultra high efficiency rating of up to 99.1% gross (110% net).

""

No Conventional Flue Required

Since the flueing system is just standard 50mm (2") muPVC plastic kitchen wastepipe which can be extended up to 15 metres from the unit, either horizontally or vertically, the flueing costs are negligible and the materials available from builders merchants nationwide.

The larger the heating system the greater the saving. In replacement or refurbishment projects there is no expensive re-lining of the flue required. This often means the Keston can save thousands of pounds, providing the opportunity to give condensing performance with a non-condensing conventional system cost.

Every consideration has been taken to ensure quick and easy installation.

Make Your Contribution Towards The Environment

Environmental issues are becoming ever more important and are something that can no longer be ignored.

Although gas is the cleanest of commercially used fuels, NOx gases are a by-product of combustion and pollute the atmosphere. By installing a Keston boiler which has virtually no NOx emissions, you would be making a considerable contribution towards the environment by keeping the air we breathe as clean as possible and, at the same time, saving up to 30% or more on fuel costs and conserving valuable resources for future generations.

This in conjunction with the flueing flexibility and low maintenance costs are the essential reasons for installing Keston condensing boilers.

Compact, Lightweight and Wall Mounted

The wall mounted Keston 170 is one of the most compact 50kW boilers on the market and can be fitted even where space is a problem. Weighing just 61kg, the Keston can be easily handled on site by two people. The wall mounted design enables the Keston 170 to be located in the smallest of boiler rooms where floor space is always a premium.

How Does It Work?

The Keston is a revolutionary concept covered by world patents. The design provides high efficiency, with a single pass heat exchanger, and clean combustion without the complications of other condensing boilers. Air is drawn into the Keston via a 50mm plastic pipe and an in-built filter. A measured amount of gas is injected into the air stream and the mixture is passed through a highly turbulent blower. This blower forces the mixture of gas and air into a patented micro-mesh burner which burns with a tight blue flame, after being ignited by a spark electrode. There is no pilot or thermocouple in the appliance.

The hot combustion gases pass down the centre of a tightly coiled, stainless steel tube carrying the central heating water. When the combustion gases emerge from the base of the water coil the temperature is reduced to around 5¼C above the return water temperature. The cooled gases are then forced out of the heat exchanger into the 50mm plastic pipe where they are discharged into the atmosphere.

The Keston incorporates a patented single pass heat exchanger providing high efficiency without the normal complex double heat exchanger system of other condensing boilers. Its compact construction of high grade super alloy stainless steel ensures long life and carries a guarantee against corrosion.

No Printed Circuit Boards

The simple though technically advanced concept of the Keston means that no printed circuit boards are required (apart from the sealed spark ignition unit). Hence, electrical wiring of the unit is simplicity itself and the choice of boiler controls is left to the designer's preference.

Fully Automatic

All Keston units come complete with electronic spark ignition and overheat thermostat as standard.

Room Sealed

The Keston 130 & 170 are true room sealed appliances, drawing in combustion air via a second 50mm (2") standard muPVC plastic wastepipe, up to 15 metres in length. No additional boiler room ventilation is required.

Boiler Clearances

With practically no temperature increase on the unit casing and all servicing access from the front or top of the boiler, the Keston can be installed with side clearance of just 1mm.
